Cast iron from Skeppshult Ironworks is classic in every way. Like glass, the iron requires high temperatures to melt. And the production of its cast is produced in the same way today as it has always been done, in the form of compressed mass of sand and soot. It all starts with raw iron along with other metals in carefully controlled amounts, heated to 1500 degrees in Skeppshults induction furnaces. The glowing liquid iron is poured into molds and processed by experienced hands to graphite black products with weight and sharpness. Skeppshult uses only electricity from wind and hydropower. All products are made with naturally pure ingredients only. Together with Skeppshult Staffan Holm has designed the candleholder CHIMNEY, inspired by the Japanese iron tableware. A Swedish material with a well know heritage combined by the far east makes the products unique and beautiful shaped.
